RYMAN PLAY-OFF ROUND UP

The Ryman play-off semi-finals were all played yesterday evening in a night of excitement and high drama.

In Division One (North) 344 saw Needham Market, who finished 18 points above their visitor's, play Brentwood Town. The Blues ran out 1-3 winners after the match was a 1-1 draw at half-time through two penalty kicks. Ex Town player Ryan Edgar scored in the second half along with Sos Yao to seal a famous victory for the Essex side. Who would of thought they'd be in the play-off final after Town won 0-6 at The Arena in February???  Needham Market hadn't lost a league home game all season up until the all important game last night.

Brentwood Town now travel to Wingate and Finchley in the final, they beat Harlow Town 4-2 after extra time, with the game at 1-1 after 90 minutes. W&F went 4-1 up in extra time with the Hawks scoring a late goal. They were backed by a large and vocal travelling support among the crowd of 327.

In the Premier Divison the match dubbed 'EL SUFFOLKO' took place at Ram Meadow where Lowestoft Town won 1-2 against rival's Bury Town. 1,427 saw The Trawlerboy's victory and they now go onto the final at Tonbridge Angels for the chance to achieve three successive promotions in as many years. The Angels were 2-0 up against Harrow Borough who against the odds came back to 2-2 at full time. The Kent side scored in extra-time to go through 3-2 in front of 1,124.

Finally, in Division One (South) you have to feel for the supporters and player's of Bognor Regis Town who missed out on the title by one goal and finished an incredible 31 (thirty-one) points above fifth placed Dulwich Hamlet who won 1-2 in front of 601 people at Nyewood Lane. It was a real night to remember for the travelling supporter's from Champion Hill who saw their side go 2-0 up inside the first half an hour. Town pulled back a goal prior to half time but the South London side held on to go through to face Leatherhead in the play-off final. The Tanners travelled to the South Coast as well to face Brighton based Whitehawk at The Enclosed Ground. The game finished 1-1 after extra time with Leatherhead scraping through 4-3 on penalty kicks. A crowd of 280 saw this one.
