WINGATE AND FINCHLEY STILL TOP FOR NOW

The adverse weather didn't quite wipe out the Ryman Division One (North) fixture list today with four out of the scheduled eleven matches going ahead. The best result of the day has to go to East Thurrock United's 0-1 victory at Maldon and Tiptree closely followed by Waltham Abbey's 1-2 success at Harlow Town. W&F drew 1-1 with AFC Sudbury and the game between Potters Bar Town and Brentwood Town finished 0-0.

Here is the current league Ryman Division One (North) table presented in a 'Cann Table*' format.
*The Cann Table is named after Jenny Cann who produced visual league tables on the Internet from 1998 up until her untimely death in 2003.

PTS TEAM (GAMES PLAYED)
37 WINGATE AND FINCHLEY (19)
-------------------------------
36 EAST THURROCK UNITED (16)
35
34 MALDON AND TIPTREE (19)
33 NEEDHAM MARKET (13)
32 POTTERS BAR TOWN (18)
-------------------------------
31 ROMFORD (14)
30 THAMESMEAD (17)
29
28
27 AFC SUDBURY (16)
26
25 BRENTWOOD TOWN (16)
24 HARLOW TOWN (15)
23 HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS (16), WALTHAM ABBEY (19), WARE (18)
22 ENFIELD TOWN (15)
21 GREAT WAKERING ROVERS (17)
20 CHESHUNT (17)

13 TILBURY (18)
12 ILFORD (17)
10
9 REDBRIDGE (16), LEYTON (17)
8 WALTHAM FOREST (19)

The table illustrates the gap opening up between the bottom five and the rest of the league. Should Grays Athletic win some of their games in hand it will mean Tilbury and the East London quartet will be near enough cut adrift in the basement battle against relegation.

It also shows how important Town's scheduled midweek trip into Suffolk to face AFC Sudbury is. A victory for the home side would see them move up to 30 points which would be 8 points above Town on 22 points. However, An away win would see Town on 25 points just two points below AFC on 27 points with a game in hand.

Current table toppers Wingate and Finchley appear only to be keeping the position warm for their fellow title contenders as East Thurrock United, Needham Market and Romford could all go above them if they win their games in hand.

Midweek fixtures (weather permitting) -
AFC Sudbury V Enfield Town
Leyton V Harlow Town
Romford V Redbridge
Ware V Potters Bar Town
