A loss again yesterday when Wingate and Finchley recorded a 1-2 win at Goldsdown Road to make it three league defeats on the trot for Enfield Town. The cold end wasn't present but all reports back state it was a much improved performance with Town going 1-0 up through Richard Morton. W&F scored to make it 1-1 just prior to half-time and then in the second half to take the all important three points. As Steve Newing has stated Town have not become a bad team over night and we have the players capable of getting back up to the top of the league. Exactly this time last year the team lost three league games on the trot against East Thurrock United, Northwood and Wingate & Finchley and then went on a run of only four defeats in the last twenty-nine league games to qualify for the play-offs. Needham Market are now top of the league on goal difference to W&F who are level on points with Romford and Maldon & Tiptree closely following them. Town's next game is against 2nd bottom Leyton who lost 0-5 at Ware yesterday, the East London side are also bottom of the current form table.
