TOWN LOSE AGAIN AND ILFORD ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE*

*the Ryman East London Division

Enfield Town's miserable run of form continued yesterday with another 0-1 loss against Maldon and Tiptree at Goldsdown Road. The cold end unfortunately missed another game but will be at the next few games where hopefully normal service or some pictures and footage will return.

Reports back to cold end towers are that Town didn't play that bad but just lacked that killer instinct in front of goal. It's same old story that we need to catch a break from somewhere - a lucky goal maybe off someones shin or backside would do!

Town's next two games come at Hendon in the Middlesex Cup and Heybridge Swifts at home next Saturday in another important league fixture.

Elsewhere, as predicted by the cold end (I do get some right now and again!) Ware beat Needham Market 4-3 at Wodson Park. The home side were 4-1 at one point with the game descending into a flurry of red cards. Market finished with eight men and Ware with ten men.

The game of the day has to have come at Burroughs Park where Great Wakering Rovers scored five goals but still got nothing from the game as visitors Potters Bar Town scored six!!  Cold end favourite and all round top bloke Dan Trenkell scored all five for his side in what looks like it will be the game of the season in the Ryman North. The score at half time was 4-4. With the score at 5-5 Jose Espinoza who impressed versus Enfield Town last week took the points for the Scholars with a goal in the last minute.

It's not all doom and gloom for Town with new signing forward Walid Matata showing some good touches yesterday and with the impending return of Stuart Blackburne along with Ben Hammond we can still reach the play-offs. Town have now lost seven league games so it's fair to say it will take a run of extremely impressive results to win the league. But looking at the following table the cold end has compiled the play-offs are within reach -

SEASON 09/10 08/09 07/08 06/07
LEAGUE WINNERS GAMES LOST 5 4 7 3
PLAYS OFF QUALIFIERS GAMES LOST 8/9/8/11 7/6/10/9 10/9/9/9 8/11/11/10
P/O QUAL AVG GAMES LOST 9 8 7 10

AVG NUMBER OF GAMES LOST FOR LEAGUE WINNERS - 4.75
AVG NUMBER OF GAMES LOST FOR TEAMS IN FIFTH PLACE - 9.75

With Town now eight points off of fifth place it is possible. There are many games to be played and lots of twists and turns to go yet.

If your are an Enfield Town fan and of a nervous disposition please look away now - Here comes the league and current form Table (which we are bottom in!!). The bottom four will hence be renamed "The Ryman League East London Division" with Ilford's 0-3 victory at Leyton yesterday putting them on top of their mini-league -

AFC SUDBURY SHOCK TRURO IN THE FA TROPHY

Congratulation to AFC Sudbury who done the Ryman League proud down in Cornwall recording a brilliant 1-2 win at Zamaretto League leaders Truro City. AFC were rated as 9/2 outsiders in the match so well done to anyone who had money on the Suffolk side.

Harlow Town are also through to the First Round proper having comfortably beaten Maidstone United.

Grays Athletic make it a trio of Ryman North sides in the draw and will face a replay in mid-week against Circencester Town after their creditable 2-2 draw yesterday.

Unfortunately Romford lost 0-3 at Boreham Wood so therefore bow out of the FA Trophy.
