Random Results

Here is a selection of results from tonight's numerous pre-season friendly games:

At Top Field, Hitchin the Canaries prepared from their Southern League Division One (Midland) divsion season by beating Ryman Premier Boreham Wood 1-0 thanks to a Jamie Arlick first half goal. Hichin included Ex-Towner Steve Velandia in their midfield. Another ex Town player Jeff Hammond, although not playing tonight has been turning out for the Hertfordshire club in some of their pre-season games.

A few miles down the A505 at newly non-league Luton Town's Kenilworth Road The Hatters entertained a Ole Gunnar Solksjaer managed Manchester United XI. In front of a bumper 7,480 Luton went down 1-2 thanks to early goals from Brandy and Cleaverly.

Over in Broxbourne, The tennants lost to the landlords 2-1. Enfield 1893 face Boro in the FA Cup in a few weeks in another interesting match.

ETFC's opponents on Thursday AFC Hornchurch drew 1-1 with Eastbourne Borough at Bridge Avenue. The Urchins included ex Enfield player Andy Tomlinson in their line up.

Wigan Athletic fans have a new hero in Jason Scotland. The big striker helping his new team to a 4-1 at Preston. Other scorers for the Latics at Deepdale were N'Zogbia, Brown and Rodellaga. Neil Mellor got a late consolation goal for North End.

Best result of the night comes in the Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round 1st Leg -
Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv 1 Pacos Ferreira 0. The Israeli team have already played 2 qualifying rounds (4 matches) prior to this match beating Azerbaijani team Simurq Zaqatala and Latvian team FC Dinaburg on aggregate. Lets wish them luck in the return leg in Portugal.
